BIOGRAPHY

Emory has been teaching sailing since 2008. And even though he's lived most of his life in Arizona, he's been ocean sailing since 2001 including racing, chartering and delivering sailboats in a wide variety of locations including: Whitsunday Islands (Australia), U.S. & British Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, the Bahamas, BC-Canada Gulf Islands, San Juan Islands (WA), San Francisco Bay, Southern California, Catalina Island, Sea of Cortez, Puerto Vallarta, Newport RI, Long Island Sound, “DelMarVa” Coast, Chesapeake & Delaware Bays, the Florida Keys, the Gulf of Mexico and multiple Gulf Stream crossings.  

 

Also several times he's sailed 10+ day, 1000+nm sailboat deliveries between US Atlantic Coast and the Caribbean and recently crossed the Atlantic from Spain to Grenada in the 2022 ARC+ rally.

In addition to ASA Instructor Certifications Emory holds his USCG 50T Master Captain’s License, US Sailing Small Boat Instructor certification, PADI Advanced Open-Water scuba diving certification and Safe Power Boating certifications and is a NauticEd Level 5 Captain Rank Instructor Evaluator. 

​

Emory brings over 25 years of sailing experience to his sailing classes including cruising, racing and delivering monohull and catamaran sailboats ranging from 18' to 56'. You can be sure you'll have a great class with Emory, a SAFE one, a FUN one. He is a USCG Licensed 50T Master Captain, ASA Instructor and an experienced Charter/Delivery Captain with over 12,000 ocean sailing miles sailed in just the past 5 years!​

Looking for a boat?  Emory has experience sailing over 35 different types of sailboats, hundreds of days on small boats like Lasers, Catalina 14.2s and his favorite the Buccaneer 18, and over 5000 ocean miles on "big boats" like Swan 56s, Volvo Open 60s and Lagoon 45 catamarans.
