I started sailing in 1985 on a Venture 222 in lakes and rivers in Central California. Since then I have owned and skippered various keel boats such as the Capri 18, Catalina 22, J24, Catalina 25, Ranger 26, Catalina 30, and Irwin 37 in addition to several small dinghy boats. I have raced and crewed with my friends on other keel boats as well as my own on: San Francisco Bay, San Diego Bay, Lake Tahoe, Clear Lake, Folsom Lake, Whiskeytown Lake, Lake Yosemite, the Delta tributaries in California, and Lake Pleasant and Tempe Towne Lake, AZ. I have cruised my boats to Catalina Island, and trailer-sailed in Idaho, Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia.
Upon receiving my US Sailing Small Boat Instructor Certification in 1997, I developed the Gold Country Yacht Club Education/Sailing Program www.gcyc.net and teach junior and adult dinghy sailing during the summer months at Scotts Flat Lake, CA. In 1999 I received my US Sailing Keel Boat Instructor Certification and have been teaching adults sailing on keelboats, also at Scotts Flat Lake. In January 2008 I became a "snowbird" in Arizona and began volunteering with the Arizona Yacht Club Sailing Foundation, to teach high school students on Tempe Town Lake, AZ. I received my ASA Keelboat Instructor Certification in 2009 and began teaching ASA Keelboat Classes and work at The Sail Boat Shop at Lake Pleasant, AZ.
